There is a grand temple of Agasti Rishi on the banks of the Pravara River near Akole city. This area is known as Agasti Ashram. In recent times, many parts of this temple have been renovated. However, the Temple Trust and local devotees have tried to preserve the old traces by repairing them. There are two kunds (water tanks) here. According to the legend in Ramayana, the northern kund was created by Lord Rama's arrow.
Agasti Rishi took great pains for social enlightenment and to lead the people in the society on the right path. He taught agriculture to the tribal communities. He fulfilled his guru’s order to “go south to do philanthropy” through his service. This is the only place of Agasti Rishi in Maharashtra. Therefore, countless devotees from far and wide visit this place for darshan.
